This quotation from Neumann's book 'Strategic Information Systems' eloquently summarises the essential purpose of a SIS - to help organisations to do things better, to win. What do we mean when we talk about 'the strategic use of information systems'? For the purposes of these pages we define an information system to be strategic if it is aligned with business goals and
