Welcome to the Introduction to MIS course website, where we hope to build a "community of practice" around the business core MIS course at both graduate and undergraduate levels.
This site will incorporate material from the original Core MBA IT Course Page built by Mark Silver, Lynne Markus and Cynthia Beath. For now we have links to their MISQ paper, the IT Interaction Model and the student handout for that paper. We will add more of this content in the near future. We thank these authors for being willing to help us out.
Click on Knowledge, Syllabi, Cases or Bookstore to access the information here. To gain access to Instructor only materials you must be a faculty member. Email the editor to gain faculty access (mhuber@uga.edu).
In addition we hope to develop this site by offering other things - perhaps (for example) a discussion forum about what our primary intellectual contributions are to the business core. Features will be added as our visitors express a need/desire for us to add them.
However, a "community of practice" means that we need those delivering this course (and/or interested others) to participate in this dialog by recommending assignments and readings (knowledge) course syllabi, appropriate cases and books, or suggesting new categories and features for the site.
Submissions will be reviewed prior to posting, with the intent of helping the author make them clear and usable in a variety of environments; our intent is NOT to control the content or drive the discussion of course issues in any particular direction, but to help disseminate quality class materials, and by doing so contribute to an ongoing dialog about this course.
Thanks for your time, and we hope you find the site useful.
